About Us
Tobin and Long Construction has a proven track record in delivering energy efficient quality homes in the South East for over 10 years. The business is run by Philip Tobin and Michael Long, each with almost 20 years experience in the construction industry. We are a member of Homebond, and have our own Civil Engineer, to ensure quality, accuracy, and reliability, on all our building projects.
Michael Long
Michael qualified as an electrician in 2000. He worked for Mercury Engineering at Wyeth Pharmaceutical until 2003 when he started work as a self employed electrical contractor, specialising in one off domestic houses. Michael has an extensive knowledge of current electrical regulations, smart wiring, and programming, particularly involving the control of various heating systems. He also has an in depth knowledge of conventional, geothermal, and underfloor heating systems.He is also a member of the Electrical Contractors Safety and Standards Association (ECSSA).
PHILIP TOBIN BEng MIEI
Philip qualified as a Civil Engineer from Queens’ University of Belfast in 1997. He then worked as a Senior Site Engineer with AJ Morrisroe & Sons, a large reinforced concrete frame contractor in London. He returned to Ireland in 2002 and worked as a Senior Site Engineer with Marbug Construction Ltd, a reinforced concrete frame contractor, on the Beacon Court development in Sandyford, Co. Dublin. In 2003 he began constructing one off houses as a self employed building contractor. He has extensive knowledge of current building regulations, various insulation and ventilation options, and the achievement of high quality finishes. He is also a qualified BER assessor.
We operate our business on the basis that contact with the client is vital at all stages. This commences at first contact, where we have an initial meeting to discuss what the client requires, and offer options available. We have a team of quality tradesmen who will also happily meet with clients to discuss specific requirements in certain areas e.g. electrical works, plumbing, etc. We have numerous suppliers across Ireland and also in the UK so there is no difficulty in sourcing any products.
